But how can you easily care for your copper, gold or gun metal sink and/or faucet? A copper, gold or gun metal sink and/or faucet in the kitchen will stay beautiful when properly cared for. In this care guide, you will learn how to ensure that the copper, gold and gun metal accessories in your kitchen remain radiant.
Sinks and/or faucets in copper, gold and gun metal are finished with a PVD coating. But what does that mean?
A PVD coating, or “Physical Vapor Deposition,” is a coating that forms a thin, strong top layer on a surface, in this case stainless steel, by depositing metal vapor. With a PVD coating, you can enjoy the appearance of real copper, gold or gun metal and the properties of stainless steel.
Sinks and/or faucets in copper, gold and gun metal look even better when they are clean and shiny. To keep them spotless and looking like new, here are a few simple tips to help you care for your sink and/or faucet with ease.
Caring for your copper, gold or gun metal sink and/or faucet:
Tip 1: Clean regularly. Regularly cleaning the sink and/or faucet prevents limescale deposits and dirt from building up on and around the sink and/or faucet. Wipe the sink and/or faucet at least once a week and also clean the faucet thoroughly during your kitchen cleaning routine. Proper care prevents permanent stains and makes cleaning easier.
Tip 2: Use the right cleaning products. No special cleaning products are required for cleaning copper, gold or gun metal sinks and/or faucets. Warm soapy water with a mild detergent will keep your sink and/or faucet spotless. You can also remove limescale with a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Test this on a small area first.
Tip 3: Use a soft cloth. Prevent scratches or other damage by wiping the sink and/or faucet with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use microfiber cloths. Always dry the surface thoroughly with a dry, soft cloth.
Tip 4: Avoid these cleaning products. Although the PVD coating is strong, you should avoid bleach, chlorine, ethylene oxides and other harsh or highly acidic cleaning products. Use pH-neutral cleaning products.
Tip 5: Avoid abrasive sponges and cloths. To prevent scratches and other permanent damage, do not use abrasive sponges, steel wool, microfiber materials or rough cloths when cleaning the sink and/or faucet. Use a soft cloth to keep the surface shiny.
Tip 6: Use a Caressi bottom grid for your sink. A Caressi bottom grid is a stainless steel grid that you can place on the bottom of the sink. Using a bottom grid protects the sink base and helps the sink look like new for longer. Available in all PVD colors and suitable for (almost) all Caressi sinks.
Finally: A sink and/or faucet with a PVD color coating is beautiful, but more susceptible to scratches or damage than a regular stainless steel sink or stainless steel faucet. Handle it with care and use the proper care products so that you can enjoy your Caressi product for a long time.
